Hank Erwin’s life has been marked by courageous engagement with culture. From his early days as Managing Editor of The Birmingham Post-Herald, where he earned respect for investigative rigor and principled editorial leadership, to his years serving in the Alabama State Senate from 1990 to 2002,Erwin has consistently stood firm on issues of faith, family, and public policy. Whether in media or government, he has never shied away from speaking conviction into complex cultural conversations.
But perhaps one of his most enduring legacies is closer to home. Hank and his wife Sheila raised two sons — Jon and Andrew Erwin— now nationally recognized filmmakers and founders of Kingdom Story Company and The Wonder Project. The Erwin brothers have often credited their father’s storytelling instincts, spiritual courage, and unwavering faith as foundational to their own creative influence in Hollywood and beyond. Legacy, it seems, begins with quiet faithfulness long before it becomes visible impact.
