The Power of Us: Partners in Purpose

They say “behind every good man is a good woman” (and I agree!)—but today, I want to flip it: behind every good woman is a good man.

At Highlander Studios, Russell and I are full partners. Every dream, every goal, every decision—we carry it together. I couldn’t do my work without him, and he couldn’t do his without me. We truly complement each other in business and in life.

Russell is a set and lighting designer extraordinaire—a visual artist who thinks big and bold. His work is that rare blend of science and art: functional and beautiful, daring and detailed. From theatre to studio sets to public art, his designs are memorable and distinctive. He’s also an excellent producer—organized, people-savvy, and beloved by teams that often become our professional family. Since moving to Tennessee, it’s been a joy to slowly find “our tribe of collaborators” for live productions. There’s a lot of talent here, and we’re loving it.

Lately, Russell’s also expanded his editor toolkit, and together we’ve completed two projects (with a third on the way), using AI to help tell stunning stories in fresh ways—cutting edge and exciting!

And in Russell's words:

“My wife is the creative heart and pen behind so many of our projects. She’s often up before dawn with Jesus, then meets me at coffee with a notebook overflowing with ideas. That’s where The UPside was born—and the tagline, ‘Conversations that Light UP the World,’ was a Holy Spirit gift. I did have to nudge her to put her name on it, but I’m glad I did. The show brings real value—it’s fantastic—and the project is just starting to take off.”

So, my friends, whenever you see our posts and projects, know it’s a team effort through and through. I couldn’t—and wouldn’t—do it without Russell. Thank you for being part of our journey as we grow. Here’s to partnership, purpose, and to the One who lights our way. Blessings!
